Trip to a Fete in the East

My good friend invited me to a fete on the East end of the island the other night. Its an annual fete that I had never been to before but I'd heard through word of mouth that it was great, so I decided to say yes and give it a visit. I was picked up by a good friend around 7:30pm and we arrived there around 8pm-ish. We had to pay £3 to get in and as I walked through the fete, I realised it was like a mini fair. There was a bouncy castle, a couple of funfair (carnival) rides, a few shooting, throwing and fishing games where you could win prizes and some of those claw machines - you know, where the aim is to grab a cuddly toy with a metal claw using controls, is there a name for them?

Anyways, the first thing we stopped for was to watch the spaghetti eating contest and the winner had won last year too and was actually, weirdly enough, one of my Facebook friends. This is the good thing/problem (depending on how you look at it) with being on such a tiny island, you see random people you know on a daily basis and almost everywhere! Our second quest was to get through a huge crowd to the food stalls where I bought "moules frites". We walked down the pier to find somewhere to eat and my good friend and her boyfriend bumped into people they knew and to my shock, one of them was my ex from a few years back. Not. Good. My good friend didn't know this and asked them if we could sit with them - awkwardness obviously was felt by myself so I didn't talk to him and sat between my good friend and her best friend and chatted with just them while I ate some of my food.

After eating, we (my good friend, her best friend, and me) walked around the fair and along the way, more people whom I knew as acquaintances joined us and we saw a couple of people joining in the alcohol drinking contest. Most of the people at the fair were drunk young teens celebrating their A-Level results and most were chavs, which sucked. I did some fishing and won a small stuffed toy, a panda! I also bumped into an old acquaintance from Primary School who is always excited to see me, which is lovely. We had a little catch up and I found out he's now a Graphic Designer! And he's my age! I'm impressed.

Later on, we watched the fireworks display which was the best thing at the fete. It was very cool, there were types of fireworks I'd never seen before.

So despite the social awkwardness with people I hardly knew (and people I'd like to forget) and the dullness of the actual fete - it was nice spending time with my good friend and seeing some lovely fireworks. (^_^)

Oh, almost forgot, this is what I wore on the night:
Trip to a fete in the East
I'm wearing: My black ASOS gathered detail cropped cardigan, red Kurt Geiger shoes, Dorothy Perkins black leggings and my ASOS jacquard tulip skirt dress in grey - yup, its the same style of dress as the dress in my previous post but in a different colour, hehe!

Well that's all for now, take care!

Work, Work, Work

Sorry its taken so long to blog an outfit post but here it is, my first outfit post since my hiatus.

And this is an outfit I wore with it:
I'm wearing: Comfy black flat shoes from Barratts, black leggings from Dorothy Perkins, ASOS blue dress, Miss Selfridge knitted cardi and lastly, my Mum's black thin belt from NEXT that I love to steal now and again.
What do you think? Tell me your thoughts here and/or on Chictopia - please rate on there if you can. (^_^)

I wore the above outfit to work. I work as a part-time telephone operator. Not particularly interesting nor well-paying but I think its a good enough job to keep on when I go back to studying so its all good. I've been working a lot lately. I even worked for a few hours before I went out clubbing last night. Working on a Saturday night, aren't I hardcore? Lol.

Hope all you guys had a good weekend! I certainly did. Take care!

Back On The Blogosphere

So I'm back at last! Sorry I haven't taken any photos of myself recently or at all to be honest, not since I took my mini hiatus which turned into a long hiatus due to the whole my laptop breaking thing. Its all back and good now though, hopefully it will stay working and well for the foreseeable future.

Not much has been happening since my break from blogging. I got a part-time night job which I'll be able to keep when I go back to Higher Education which is good and very handy. I've pretty much replaced clubbing and alcoholic drinks with my PS2 and online shopping. Hmm.. what else? I've also met some new people and been reunited with old friends. I've come across a frickin' huge spider! (Yes it is important info to this bug-phobic.) It had a huge hairy body and scary legs, twas at least about the size of my palm, ewwwww! Daddy long legs have also been making a few appearances both in my home and at work, they're never welcome!

So I'm going to leave you with a Michael Jackson music video, my favourite one. I wasn't able to do my own MJ blog mention when it happened so I'd like to do a belated mention. I loved his music so much. I was so gutted and sad when I heard, its a shame.
RIP Michael Jackson.

Well, take care my lovelies, I will now reply to those lovely comments I never got back to. (^_^)

Mini Hiatus Alert

So as the title specifies, I am taking a mini break from blogging. I love blogging and reading fellow bloggers (see sidebar) but I've got some personal issues to work on so I'm going to be spending less time on the internet. I will still be on Twitter (see sidebar again) now and then but the blogging community won't be seeing me in a while. I won't be long, I just need time. I don't want to say what for, I'm just going to say that they're issues that are important to me. Very important.

Love you guys. I'll be back ASAP. Take care.

Happy Birthday Donatella Versace!

Today, Donatella Versace (born 1955) turned 54.

I'm sure I don't need to tell you but Donatella is Artistic Director of the Italian fashion label Versace which was founded by her late brother Gianni Versace in 1978.

I've always been a fan of Donatella's daring designs but I admit that there have been one too many pieces in the past that were, well, tacky. However, her Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear collection was a lovely, classy and sassy surprise with a few cute touches (the heart details to be precise). Here are my 35 favourites from the runway:

Are you a fan of Donatella's designs for Versace?

I Like Tags

Being jobless and bored, I like things that are actually a little pointless but passes the time in a good way, tags come under this category.

I was tagged by STARR:

[1] What are your current obsessions?
Shoes, particularly Louboutins.
Celebrity Fashion.
Twitter.
TweetDeck.
Chuck. (I hope it doesn't get cancelled!)

Skins.

The L Word.

Zac Efron's biceps.

[2] What is your weirdest obsession?
Erm, Zac Efron's biceps? Or The L Word because I'm not even bisexual, at least not that I'm currently aware of?

[3] What are you wearing today?
Right now, I'm wearing an old plain black dress which used to be snug on me when I was 2-3 sizes bigger but now its comfy and baggy, love it.

[4] What’s for dinner today?
I just had it, I ate a boiled Salmon fillet and bread with low-fat cheese spread.

[5] Why is today special?
Its Jessica Alba's birthday!

and HAPPY FRIENDSHIP DAY!!

Ass2Ass

Warm enough to go jacket-less and maybe wear sunglasses but cool enough to wear my trademark elbow length sleeved black tops.

[10] What is your most challenging goal right now?
Finding a good job.

[11] What do you think about the person who tagged you?
She's so tiny, beautiful and a true fashionista.

[12] If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you like it to be?
Probably here on my home island but Paris and LA also sound appealing.

[13] What would you like to have in your hands right now?

Nuclear bombs. Murderers. Paedophiles.

[17] What do you look for in a friend?

Sunny Day, Steep Hill

Yesterday, I went outside for the first time since last Saturday to do some more job-hunting and to attend an important meeting about my future. I'm going back to Higher Education in September and I was deciding which course (British A-Levels or International Baccalaureate) is better suited for me. If I were to take A-Levels, I would take: Maths, French, Photography and English Literature & Language. However, after much discussion and thought, I've decided to take the IB; it sounds like a great course which will really satisfy my mind and be more worthwhile to study over the next 2 years. I'd explain it to you but its quite complicated and long to explain and I simply can't be arsed lol, so just read about it here if you're curious. A-Levels are easier to understand; at A-Levels you just study 4 subjects at an advanced level during the first year and then drop 1 subject during the second year and continue to study the 3 subjects at an even more advanced level.

It was a lovely sunny day and I had to walk up a long steep hill in order to get to the school. So covering up wasn't really an issue due to the sunny rays and inevitable minor sweatiness, lol.

I wore this outfit:

I'm wearing my: Barrats flat silver shoes, Dorothy Perkins black leggings, Dorothy Perkins black with white polka-dots tulip skirt, Dorothy Perkins black rib top, Oasis thin white belt, necklace from the Philippines.

I'm taking a clubbing break this weekend. D asked me to go clubbing last night but I am both too tired and broke to. Although the tiredness is more of an issue since people tend to buy me drinks when I'm out, don't you just love friends and er.. strangers?

Have a good weekend, you lovely people!

Belated Happy Easter!

I'm so sorry for not updating in quite a while. Life has just been tiring lately. I've been busy job-hunting and what-not. I come back bearing photos for your viewing.

On Easter Sunday, I went with N to watch my favourite hottie, Zac Efron, on the big screen in a great movie called "17 Again". I totally recommend it. I love it and plan to be one of the first to buy it on DVD. Have you seen the photo of him that GQ magazine has kindly brought to the world?

Is this not the most beautiful photo you've ever seen? No? Just me? Oh, how I lust him.

After the cinema, I went out clubbing with D (one of my fabulous gay friends) and his other girl friends and their friends for an 18th birthday party. I was only aiming to get tipsy but of course I ended up getting so drunk. Drinking countless shots and vodka mixes is bound to have that effect though. I tried a new shot: Slippery Nipple. It was actually quite good. Not as nice tasting as Springboks but nicer than Tequila. Love it. I have some photos from the night out:

Me and the birthday girl.

The picture of me and D on the left is my current Facebook profile picture. (^_^)

Wow, how drunk / out of it do I look in most of these photos?! I am also at a loss to explain what possesed me to start taking photos in a phonebooth?

Also, here's the outfit I was wearing that night. I now realise I should've worn the belt but took it off before I left the house because I simply wasn't in the mood to wear a belt, oh well:

I'm wearing my: burgundy patent heels from a local boutique, Dorothy Perkins black leggings, Dorothy Perkins red cowl-neck jumper dress, Marks and Spencers long sleeve black top, my Mum's black belt. My Mum took these photos btw.

I started eating my Easter chocolate that day before I left the house to go to the cinema. I'm not much of a chocolate eater but when the chocolate eating holiday comes around, I'm more than happy to participate. My favourite chocolate is Guylian. Best chocolate I've ever tasted!

Lastly, I have some photos I took Friday, in a dressing room in Oasis. I wasn't sure about the skirt and dress I tried on so decided to take photos and let you guys be the judges:

I personally preferred the dress but it didn't fit properly.

So that's all for now folks. Hope you guys had a great Easter and that your past weekend was great. Take care now. (^_^)

P.S. Thank you for all advice given on my ruined shoes dilemma. I guess I'm just going to go to the shoe repair shop when I have the money to.

DIY Fashion Experts' Advice Needed!

So on Sunday night I went out clubbing for someone's 18th and during the night, I tripped up a few times which unfortunately resulted in my favourite heels being ruined! I've taken some photos. Basically in these photos you can see that the outer material has been ripped.. any ideas on how to fix it?

I'm bringing it to a shoe fixing shop this week to see if they can help but I was wondering if there were any cheap DIY home tricks you guys had?

Thank you in advance for any help I get!

My Beloved Cafe + Today

You may or may not know that my favourite cafe is "Cafe JAC". The JAC stands for Jersey Arts Centre. The Jersey Arts Centre does what it says on the tin, so to speak. Its a centre where art exhibitions, theatre plays, film nights (e.g. foreign films, indie films, vintage films) and even courses on the arts and even languages, take place. I've watched a couple or more shows there but the reason I go there most is for their cosy cafe which even has a few computers for internet usage and a bar which serves amazing hot chocolates with whipped cream, yummy caramel milkshakes and even Baileys lattes (a drink I've yet to try). Whenever I think of somewhere to eat or drink for lunch or in the evening.. I think of Cafe JAC. I spent a few hours there last night with the best friend, N, and the best male friend, H. I used my Mum's new digital camera (Olympus, 10 megapixels and simply amazing) to take a few photos.. enjoy:

Before you, you see two origami cranes. These were the results of an "origami off" which is like a "dance off" but with origami instead of dancing, between H (his crane is on the left) and N (her crane is on the right).

The new origami that H is holding is, I think, a submarine.. or something to that effect.. it looked more like a seal or something lol.

We sat in a comfy seating corner where a load of art work (the pieces were called "JOY") were hung on the walls.

I remember there were people right behind us but I could hardly hear any talking from them.. when I turned around to look at the other paintings.. I noticed that there were 3 people who were in fact deaf and carrying a conversation by sign language. I didn't want to stare so I didn't but I was fascinated. I think one of them wasn't because sometimes he'd talk normally while signing. I also remember hearing them laughing.. its weird because a lot of my humour is to do with sarcasm.. which is to do with tone of voice.. I wonder what deaf humour is like. Is it playful? teasing? who knows. I've also just thought: you know when we say "that's the weirdest thing I've ever heard?" would they sign "that's the weirdest thing I've ever seen signed?" or something to that effect? The questions.

Did you know? I can sign the alphabet. No joke. (^_^)

Today, I only went out to get my jobseeker form checked (its a form in which I write all the different things I've done to find a job - its just for people like me who receive income support so that the government knows that we're doing all we can to find a job and NOT just bumming around using the government's money). I also went out to take some photos of the entrance of a popular park a few minutes away from my house but first here are my outfit photos:

I'm wearing my: Dorothy Perkins black cardi, Dorothy Perkins black leggings, Dorothy Perkins bright green tulip skirt, Miss Selfridge brown ethnic flat shoes, Diesel brown scarf, black gloves.

The following photos are of the entrance to "Howard Davis Park".. not the best day to take view photos since the weather was a bit chilly and quite gloomy but I just felt in the mood.. I think my Mum's new digital camera helped to get me in the mood.. remember you can click on all photos to see them bigger if you like:

The signs for tourists at the entrance.

The centre of the entrance.

The left side of the entrance.. the building is a small chapel.

I should really learn more of the history of Jersey because I am at a loss to explain to you the relevance of this statue. It says the word "King" in the description but I didn't even know that Jersey had royalty in the past.. it certainly doesn't now. Maybe its a devotion of a previous King of England? God knows...

My favourite photo of all the ones I took today.

Now for some of my random flowery/plant-y photos in the park:

Have a good weekend!

P.S. Valentine I promise I haven't forgotten about my style evolution post.. I'm just currently looking through old photos for it.. you'll see the post soon! (^_^)

Damnit, I So Want Those Shoes!

So I was checking out some photos from the opening of Topshop in New York and what did I see? Emma Roberts wearing those Topshop white patent platform shoes I so covet! Its not fair! I want them! I need to get the money somehow, somewhere! They're too beautiful to not be a part of my wardrobe.

Topshop is Finally Starting to Love Me

I'm a UK size 16-18 so needless to say.. Topshop isn't my favourite shop. 16s are a rare find there and even though I'd heard of them.. I've never gotten my hands on one.. until today.

I did some window shopping with the best friend, N, who's favourite shop is Topshop.. she goes there all the time and most of her wardrobe consists of the brand. When I walked into the store I could see new stock however, as usual, I was just expecting to browse but obviously I never expected to find anything in my size.

There's a display rack near the front doors and I saw some of the most beautiful shoes ever! White patent platform shoes! I fell in love.. I'm still in love with them! Now.. normally they put out UK shoe sizes 5-6 because they are the most popular but what size was the pair I picked up? Yep.. they were my-hardly-ever-displayed size 7s! I immediately tried them on and loved them:

Amazing right?

The price tag was £65 and since I only have around £13 in my wallet, there were out of my still jobless price range. What a shame. After a bit of browsing the clothes and imagining outfits in my mind when seeing something cool. If only I were skinny again. Must lose weight quicker.. tis in the name of Fashion! Anyways.. I came across a cool flowery tulip/pencil style skirt. I'm not normally into flowery stuff but the flowers looked quite oriental and was on a black background. It didn't look.. what's the word.. Grandma-ish? Lol. Although some people like Alexa Chung (It girl) can pull off Grandma and Grandpa trends and look ultra cool. For example, socks and sandals:

So anyways.. I picked up the skirt at the back.. I always do that.. and showed N and I don't know what possessed me to look at the size tag but I did and low and behold it was a size 16! the first ever Topshop size 16 I've ever seen! it was no longer a myth but a visible rarity. When N said she was going to try on some clothes, I decided to try on the skirt and the shoes together since there's white on the skirt so they would go together. I asked the sales assistant to get the other pair.. the skirt wouldn't close while I had my leggings underneath so I took off my trusty leggings (I never go bare-legged.. I think my legs too flabby to go bare.. although when N saw my chubby legs uncovered for the first time.. she's only seen them when I was super-skinny.. she was shocked because she says my lower legs are really toned and my ankles are small.. true my lower legs are pretty toned but its the knee upwards that are too flabby for showing and when I pointed it out she eye-rolled me) and I decided to take a couple pictures to show you guys:

Check out N trying on those faux-denim leggings. I think she pulls them off pretty well but she didn't get them because she felt too self-conscious about the fact they were actually leggings and she thought people would notice.. but she says they're really comfy!

"This hand is my hand.. this hand is your hand.. no wait, its my hand.. no wait! its your hand."

Saturday's Antics

Saturday started off like any normal day. I woke up at around two in the afternoon and about 10 minutes after waking I received a phone call from the best friend, N. We arranged to meet in town then to walk to hers to help decide on her outfit for that night. While waiting to meet her, I found a film on television called: What a Girl Wants. It stars the dashing Colin Firth and the lovely Amanda Bynes. I got into it but had to tape the end part because I had to leave. (Good point.. I haven't watched the bit I taped yet.) I quickly got changed into a casual outfit which consisted of my new blue skirt, black tights, black top, black cardi, silver flat shoes, silver bag and of course Gucci white sunglasses because even though its still quite windy.. the sun is out. I didn't take any photos of my outfit since it was last minute.

While at N's house, we talked about Zac Efron's new found hotness.. when did he become sizzling? He's always been cute in a boy way. You know like: "Aww.. look at that kid.. he's so cute! You just wanna pinch his cheeks!" Ya know? but now he's all grown up and he's looking like a man. A very good-looking and sexy man. It seems to have just happened over night. Twas the pictures in Interview magazine that did it for me. Yum. If I ever run into Vanessa Hudgens.. I'm so high-fiving her.

So N drove me home at around 7pm and I started getting ready for my night on the town. I had some of my Mum's Filipino shanghai rolls (meat rolls) - so delicious - to line my stomach since I hadn't eaten yet that day and I needed to line my stomach for the alcohol about to be consumed. I also used the next hour to figure out where exactly to do my pre-drinking.. my plan was to go to J's but S phoned me and told me that R (my oldest friend.. have known her for years.. even a bit longer than N), who had just arrived back on the island from uni, was planning on going out and a bunch of them were going to RP's (their friend.. an acquaintance of mine I know from my dancing days - Ballet, Tap) and I was allowed to join if I wanted to. I said yes of course since I really miss R.

S arrived at mine a bit after 8pm (unfortunately before I could take any outfit photos) and we headed to RP's house. I brought along a lemon (which looked like an orange) and the bit of tequila I had left from the Saturday before - the drunkest I've ever been. All I had was £1 thus buying alcohol was not an option. I was wearing a black top, my new silver skirt with the bow, black tights and black heels.

I managed two tequila shots but couldn't drink anymore so RP gave me a Foster's beer which tasted weird and bitter so I could only manage a few sips.. then TB (a former acquaintance and now a new friend) offered me a few sips of her malibu and fruit juice which I accepted.. then I asked Staci if I could have some of her vodka and lemonade.. I ended up having 3 glasses of that.. then I managed another shot of tequila and threw the remaining bit away (twas probs only one shot's worth anyways). While at RP's house, I remember going to the loo a lot with and without company and not being able to climb up and down the stairs properly.. thank goodness for the banisters. I also remember talking on the phone to N a couple of times and also H (the BGF, Best Guy Friend), he phoned me shortly after he arrived back on the island (also from uni).. he was gonna drop by mine but since I wasn't home and quite a walk away.. he decided to see me another day. Here's some drunken photography at RP's (these are in order of when they were taken so check out the sliding quality of them.. means I transitioning from tipsy to drunk haha):

Me and S.
Me and TB.

Me, TB and S.
Me, TB and S.
S took this photo: Me, TB and S.
Me and TB.
Me and TB.
Me and TB.
Me, TB and R.

Me, TB and R.

We finally headed out on the town between 10:30pm and 11pm, I think. Not sure to be honest. I can't remember much about the walk to the clubs.. apart from a lot of stubbling on my part and having to hold onto R throughout the walk. I came home at 3am.. still very drunk thus decided to head back out to join N who was heading to her friends' place.. but I changed into my silver flats first lol. I was at her friends' house until 7am.. had quite a funny time there and I headed home due to my Mum continuously calling me.. telling me to come home.

Oh yeah.. I remember at one point.. J bought me a JD and coke drink.. but I was so drunk that even though I remember drinking it all fast.. I don't remember what it tastes like. Man.. I'm such an alchie (alcoholic) I've been told us Jersey beans do more drinking than our UK mainland counterparts.. oops.

Well.. that was my Saturday night. Hope you guys had a good weekend too.

Outfit Photos at Last!

Today, I woke up at 12:30pm and got ready to meet a friend, J, for lunch.. I arrived to meet her a few minutes late - oops! but luckily she wasn't mad and she was accompanied by her best friend and my friend too, T. J bought our lunch at a fairly posh cafe/restaurant since I am still jobless and T is a university student (she's back for a couple of weeks from uni at the moment). I had a nice lunch hour with them just catching up. Here's what I wore:

I am wearing: Dorothy Perkins black round toe platform shoes, Evans black tights, Dorothy Perkins blue/black check hitchy skirt, Dorothy Perkins black v-neck rib top, Dorthy Perkins white scarf. I told you Dorothy Perkins is my favourite store.

Nothing very exciting today to be honest but R and H are coming back from uni tomorrow! I'm looking forward to seeing them and spending time with them again. Can't wait. Love it.

Dorothy Perkins = My Favourite Store

So yesterday, when I was getting ready to go out, I felt so bored with my clothes. I've been wearing the same three skirts forever: the black tulip one with white polka dots.. the tulip bright green one.. and the Mango puffy one with cut-out details. All are high-waisted of course since they're the most flattering on me and I always wear a black top because all the tops I own are black and the sleeves are all elbow-length. Sometimes I wear my black cardi as a top just for a change. Anyways.. my style is always the same! just variations of the same damn outfit. I always wear the same footwear too.. the patent black heels.. the patent burgundy heels.. my Mum's Uggs.. I also have the pretty tan ones with the bows (that were a big hit with you readers) but they're too hard to walk in so I'm saving them for Summer since they were made for Summer anyways.

I'm surviving on £20 a week at the moment which is why I wasn't expecting to do any actual shopping.. just "window shopping". However, when I went to meet my Mum in town to get Wi-Fi (which I have now! its awesome being wireless!) we decided to browse Dorothy Perkins.. the only place that sells decent clothes in my size.. and what did I see? new stock! I decided to try on some skirts for fun.. and there were 2 skirts I especially loved but the both of them would cost me £55! I would've bought at least one but I only had £20 and the cheapest skirt was £25. I pointed this out to Mum not actually expecting a solution but secretly hoping for one.. she, being a Fashion-lover too.. and knowing my need for more clothes.. decided to credit the £35 needed for both skirts to her already overdrawn account.. love her! but I still feel tinges of guilt as well as gratefulness. I'll have to pay her back when I get a job. Here are the skrits we bought me:

Do you like? I actually wore the blue one today and was all ready to take a photo of it when I arrived home but I received a depressing letter of rejection for a job I really wanted which got me out of the mood. It's a particular shame because since the skirt isn't the kind I normally wear.. my outfit was quite different to my normal style too. Ah well.. next time I wear it.. Lady GaGa - The Outrageous Fashionista

I never thought that anyone's Fashion sense could get any quirkier than Tilda Swinton or even Katy Perry but I'm now proved wrong.. Lady GaGa, the amazing musician behind "Poker Face" - my current "I listen to it everyday" song - is the new super quirky Fashionista. Its weird because her outfits are so wrong but somehow I admire her for them.. ya know? I guess its the bravery of showing so much skin and not caring about looking ridiculous and also.. well.. because her body is amazingly fit! wish mine was as toned.

Spot the least quirky.. almost normal (exception being the hair) outfit.

What are your thoughts on her Fashion?
